Formed as a National Preserve, the first of its kind in land management concepts, Big Cypress was created to preserve the land but to compromise with those who would have lost access to the land if created as a National Park. This concept seems to be working well and stands as a great example of varied party interests working together for the common good of an area.
We enjoyed learning about the park, seeing a ton of Alligators and the kids earning the trio patch along with the Jr Ranger badges from Big Cypress, Everglades and Biscayne.
