#9 Shenandoah (VA)

Skyline Drive is just over 100 miles of roadway set atop of the mountains with fantastic views, tons of wildlife and much history. The Appalachian Trail intertwines all along the drive giving glimpses of what it would be like to hike the entire trail. The views and overlooks were spectacular. We drove 20 miles of the northern most route, attended a ranger led talk on black bears and saw much beauty and wildlife including deer, turkey and a spectacular view of a hawk.

The next morning, we were able to meet up with my parents who were southbound from Maine. They were able to see the new travel trailer and hug Ethan and Wren. We took a bit of a detour through Richmond, staying the night with Aunt Jamie and then heading to Virginia Beach to see our friends the Owen’s (one of my college friends and her family) for the weekend. All three visits were a great added benefit to our travels and we are so thankful for the hospitality.
